In order to enrich the campus life of international students and taste the traditional Chinese culture during the COVID-19 pandemic, the International College organized Using Woodblock Printing and rubbing Fu Characters experience activity on the afternoon of November 19.

In this activity, the Chinese students from the International Cultural Exchange Department of the International College showed the methods and steps of woodblock printing and rubbings to the international students. Then, the international students followed the methods and steps shown by the Chinese students to apply the ink evenly with a tool, cover it on the engraving surface, and then cover it with rice paper. Next students press the paper with a tool until the rice paper absorbs the ink and the rubbing is completed.

John from Russia said that this activity made him have a certain understanding of printing, one of the four great inventions of China. It is very meaningful for the college to hold such an activity. He can not only learn the method of block printing and rubbing by hand, but also feel the spirit and wisdom of traditional Chinese crafts.
