Research Interests:
Professor Liu's primary research areas include diet and cancer, the impact of health foods on chronic diseases, and the development of natural active ingredients with anticancer and antiviral properties. Specific research focuses include:
1) The health-promoting effects of bioactive plant components in fruits, vegetables, and grains;
2) The mechanisms and effects of natural active ingredients in anti-aging, cancer prevention, and anti-inflammation;
3) The development of natural antiviral drugs.
Overseas Experiences:
Professor Liu went to the United States for further studies in 1987 and earned his Ph.D. in Toxicology from Cornell University in 1993. He then conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine, focusing on hepatitis and liver cancer. In 1997, he joined the Department of Food Science at Cornell University, where he has been engaged in research and teaching. He has held positions as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor, and is currently a tenured professor at Cornell University.
